BP Finish!

Fabric - the suggested Belfast 32ct Antique Ivory. Stitched 1 over 1. DMC thread, I started the centre medallion with the called for 356 and then improvised with my choices, as follows:

167, 300, 356, 400, 407, 436, 437, 632, 738, 758, 759, 779, 780, 801, 840, 841, 898, 918, 919, 920, 921, 938, 975, 976, 3064, 3771, 3772, 3773, 3776, 3778, 3781, 3790, 3826, 3856, 3859, 3860, 3861,
3862, 3863.

Started 18.01.09.  Third time lucky, discarded two starts as had problems with Rose of Sharon, Crescent Colours thread bleeding.

Finished 10.01.10. The initials are mine to my other half, BP for Beatrix Potter and HT for Hill Top, year 2009 as this is the year in which it was mostly stitched and the year when we visited the original sampler in Beatrix's Hill Top Farm in the Lake District.

I've really enjoyed this SAL, thanks to Hazel and to all the other stitchers who have posted and given encouragment to carry on, wouldn't have done it without you! Cheering on all you stitchers who are participating this year :)

Redwitch's November Progress

As of October:

As of November:

After a very slow month last time, I managed five motifs this month, top right hand corner. I don't think I will finish this year, but I'm really enjoying seeing everyone else's finish photos, you're all very inspiring!

(Sorry for odd size photos, I tried to resize but couldn't get it to work, please excuse my lack of skills!)

Redwitch's October Progress

As of September:

As of October:

This may be the tiniest amount of progress ever, it's the little brown blob if you're wondering! ;) Just two thread lengths, but I hope this post will motivate me to get going again. It's been a very busy month workwise. I have six workshops and two lectures to give next week, so hopefully after that I will be able to relax for a little while. I've loved seeing all your progress pics, some of you are really near to finishing which is really exciting! One thing I did finish this month was 'Beatrix Potter: a Life in Nature' by Linda Lear (ISBN 0713995602), it took me a while to get into but I really did enjoy it and would definately recommend it. Happy All Hallows Eve stitching! :)

Redwitch's September Progress

As of August:
As of September:

Not quite sure how, but this seems to have stitched itself this month! It's the busiest time of year for me at work with all the students coming back and I'm often too tired to stitch in the evenings. But the photos prove there are three motifs at the bottom, orange and brown, and one peach one at the top that weren't there last month ;)

Congrats to all who have finished!

Redwitch's August Progress & visit to Hill Top!

As of June:
I had a break in July, so this shows my August progress, not much, but some is better than nothing I guess:

And guess what? Some of the stitches were actually put in at a farm once owned by Beatrix herself, Yew Tree Farm which is a B&B, tearoom and working farm. I am a very lucky girl and as you can see below we went for a weekend break to the Lake District specifically to visit the original Beatrix Sampler at Hill Top! It was absolutely wonderful to see the original, hard for me to convey, but very special. When I was there I was thinking about all of you stitching away right now, all over the world, on all the beautiful reproductions. Some more details at my blog.

It is well worth a visit, this is my first Needleprint reproduction sampler, but I have some others lined up, don't we all?! If you get a chance to visit the originals of any samplers you are working on I would definately recommend it, it sent shivers down my spine!

Redwitch's June Progress

As of May:

As of June:

I did two of the larger motifs and two of the little ones, colour is much truer in the top photo. Really enjoying seeing everyones colour choices, I'm just picking DMC as I go along, it's a bit of a mystery what it will look like in the end!

It's pretty hot in much of the UK, including Wales at the moment, on the way home from work, my car said it was 29c. Hope it's nice where you are :)

Redwitch's May Progress

As of April:

As of May:

I really wanted to get three motifs finished this month, but the weather has been great here so we have been making the most of it and I have only completed two and a bit instead. Still, any progress is ood progress in my book! I know a few people have lost interest recently, but I must say I am still really enjoying stitching this. Loved seeing all your progress too :)

Redwitch's April Progress

As of March:
As of April:

I'm pleased with my progress this month, this is due to the fact that I am still at home convalescing and work is not intruding on my stitching time, love that! The second photo is much truer than the first. Thanks for looking!

Redwitch's March Progress

As of February:
As of March:

Sorry about the very different photos, light not always good in Wales! Just a very quick post as I had some major surgery on Weds so am not all there yet. Amazing what they can do with keyhole surgery these days :) Looking forward to my recovery time and catching up with this SAL and your blogs!

Redwitch's February Progress

As of January:

As of February:

Beatrix and I are now on better terms, I'm enjoying stitching this very much and I love seeing everyone's progress on the SAL :) I'm afraid I've been remiss in leaving comments (slaps own wrists)! Please forgive me, I've a few health issues at the moment which I hope will improve after some major treatment at the end of next month.

Third Time Lucky

I've really enjoyed seeing all your starts, much more than I've enjoyed my own! As you can see I had two false starts, the third and I hope final start is on the right. It's the called for DMC and fabric, 32ct Belfast Antique Ivory, over one. I plan to use a variety of DMC after the unfortunate problem I had with 'Rose of Sharon' bleeding. (A few more details can be found on my blog.) I'm really enjoying this despite the setbacks, it's teaching me to be patient and to persevere if nothing else!

Fabric and Floss (Redwitch)

Thanks Hazel for hosting this SAL! I am really looking forward to making a start and have so enjoyed looking at everyone's choices of fabric and floss.

My fabric is 36ct Khaki from Sassy's Fabbys and I treated myself to Belle Soie silk 'Rose of Sharon' for the main shade. I thought I'd chosen a lighter shade of pink 'Rosebud' for the white but as you can see from the photo (Rosebud is on the left) it is almost exactly the same shade. Instead I might choose Belle Soie 'Oatmeal Scone' or 'Baguette', these came with the latest Loose Feathers so I have them already.

Festive greetings to you all :)
